| Notes: Director: Veit Harlan; Both director and his favorite star and wife, Kristina Soderbaum have made many movies together. Many of them for the German Nazi regime during the war years. One of them is the most notorious piece of virulent anti-Semitic propaganda ever made called Jud Suss in 1940. So pleased was Goebbels with the result, that he made Jud Suss required viewing for all Nazi officers. After the war, Veit Harlan stood a number of trials for Crimes Against Humanity but was acquitted. His defence was that the Nazis forced him to shoot those movies. Amazingly, both Harlan and his beautiful wife continued to make movies after the war, one of them is this exotic adventure – romance. |
