| Notes: Director: John Turturro; Murray Schwartz (Woody Allen) is the owner of a failing store for rare and old books in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. As luck would have it, he is approached by his dermatologist with a very unusual request, does he know anyone who would like to join her and her friend in a menage a trois? We’re talking here about Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara, quite a challenging proposition. Without much hesitation, Woody says yes, but it will cost you money. Now he’s only left with the task of recruiting his friend, the florist Fioravante (John Turturro), for the part of the Gigolo. Turturro, initially thinks that Woody is insane for even coming up with such an idea, but eventually relents because they’re both strapped for cash. What qualifications Woody saw in Turturro, that would make him think that he could be a gigolo is not apparent, but presumably no less than Woody has for being a pimp. Surprisingly, they pull it off and thus are in this new, weird, sex business. Things get more complicated when Woody suggests Turturro’s services to an attractive widow of a local Hasidic rabbi, who would not even shake hands with Fioravante, let alone agree to receive a message from him. Turturro also wrote the script. |
