| Notes: Director: John Turturro; Murray Schwartz (Woody Allen) is the owner of a failing store for rare and old books in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. As luck would have it, he is approached by his dermatologist with a very unusual request, does he know anyone who would like to join her and her friend in a menage a trois? Woody says yes, but it will cost you money. Now he’s only left with the task of recruiting his friend, the florist Fioravante (John Turturro), for the part of the Gigolo. Things get more complicated when Woody suggests Turturro’s services to an attractive widow of a local Hasidic rabbi, who would not even shake hands with Fioravante, let alone agree to receive a message from him. Vanessa Paradis as Avigal, the ultra-orthodox widow of a Williamsburg rabbi, in a tender moment with John Turturro. Her performance is spot-on in every respect, and in fact, is one of the highlights of the movie. Turturro also wrote the script. |
